A Special Dedication!

I Dedicate the Classic Ballad "Wind Of Change" by the legendary Rock'n'Roll Band "Scorpions".. To the Media And The People Of The Country Specially To All The Mumbaikar's.

The Way You Have Dealt With This Situation, The Way You Have Fearlessly Come Out Together And Spoken What Is In Your Heart Deserves A Salute!!
Keep It Up!! As The Winds Of Change Are Coming!!

I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by
Listening to the wind of change

The world closing in
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers
The future's in the air
I can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

Walking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever

I fallow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

The wind of change blows straight
Into the face of time
Like a stormwind that will ring
The freedom bell for peace of mind
Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to say

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

Tales From The Desert: "Weird But Exciting"

There is something about the desert @ this time of the year. Every climatic change in the desert is marked by sand storms, the local Arabs call it shamal which refers to change in climate. After 8 months of ruthless summer this shamal marks the start of what you can refer to as the weirdest 4 months of the desert.

It was Saturday evening and I was on my way to the mall as usual. For the past 2-3 days I had observed that the climate was very still, and it was no different that evening. As I was walking I noticed that the sky had slowly started getting darker, suddenly a strong and cold wind blew over me immediately ringing a bell of unusuality and I knew some where @ that moment what was in store with it.

Somewhere in the desert, the wind was getting stronger and had reached a point where it would gather the sand around with it and fulfill possibly its oldest tradition, the tradition of shifting sands!!

Soon the storm descended towards the city and reached me, with every second passing by the wind started getting stronger and suddenly I saw a huge mass of sand blinding my vision. Instantly I faced the opposite side covering my eyes and mouth an instruction I had received from my uncle when I was new in Dubai.

I turned around to have a check and everything beyond 10 meters had disappeared, people around like me decided to halt until the storm settles down. Soon the sand started settling, and as the mall was close by I decided to rush there with a sense of urgency to take shelter. I had come out fresh from home just less than 15 mins back and here I am with hair and clothes covered in sand.

That night as I was lying on my bed thinking about that incident over and over again just admiring nature and its mystic and un-predictable gift the deserts. Thinking about it I was also excited that soon I could expect some rains and cooler days / nights ahead, with that thought I surrendered myself to sleep.

It was 5:30 am as the alarm on my cell phone went off with Bob Marley singing GET UP STAND UP!! To wake me up, but as usual I switched the alarm to snooze and went off to sleep again. 15 minutes later he tried again but in vain, and as the clock struck 6:00 am my back up alarm which was posted on a table in one corner of the room with a sound irritating and loud enough to wake me up and get me off my bed to shut it off for good!!

As my feet touched the cold floor a chill passed through my body and in reflex I pulled them back. My half open eyes were searching for my slippers which somehow always landed up to be under the bed, finally I could locate them, put them on and shut the roaring alarm off before it woke up every one else in the building.

As I proceeded towards the balcony to pick my towel and have a look @ the morning sun, I switched off the AC on the way since it had gotten really cold that morning. My eyes still half open could identify through the curtains that it was darker outside than usual, and as I moved the curtain away to open the balcony door it only got confirmed that it was not the regular bright mornings that I had quite gotten used to for the past 8 months.

My eyes widened as I looked out side, dark black clouds were covering the sky. The first thing that I sensed when I opened the balcony door was the sweet smell of wet mud which brought with it a sense of nostalgic happiness and joy... Déjà vu... as it reminded me of all those times when I had felt the same way before… I closed my eyes and decided to enjoy that moment feeling the cold and humid wind blow over my face. As I opened my eyes and moved outside I stretched myself to unlock all the stiff muscles in my body, and said to myself what a way to start the day! I wished if I had gotten up earlier and would have been able to catch up with some rain, but never mind I said the weather still made my mood, Oh yes it made my day!

I got ready and reached the bus stop, surrounded by faces which had become somewhat familiar to me. We all knew each other but just by the nods and smiles that we exchanged every morning. The bus arrived on time that day, and my one and a half hour journey to the office began.

Usually to pass time I would be listening to music or reading, but today I had my eyes stuck outside. As time went by the sun started tearing its way through the clouds using its powerful rays like a ninja’s sword and performing the act as gracefully. There is something about the Desert sun that I like very much, I have to admit that I haven’t ever witnessed a more majestic, powerful and brighter sun anywhere else.

Into deep thoughts which took me back in time when last year in a matter of one or two weeks the city experienced sand storms, rains, thick fog covers with cold and windy evening and nights. The temperature actually managed to reach 4-5 degrees @ one point of time, which was quite a contradiction to the high 40’s and even 50+ temperatures that were to offer during the summers. I was mentally getting prepared and @ the same time getting excited for something similar, I don’t know why but nature in any form excites me!!

Just..

Just sitting there and staring @ the ceiling for hours and above that finding peace and joy in it is something that I have learnt in the past couple of years.

Surrounded by hundreds of people and yet be able to disconnect to a state where no sound reaches my ears nothing else around catches my eyes and nothing bothers me.

A chain reaction of thoughts spurs and takes me deep into a world inside me.

It has been two days and I have kind off been in into deep thoughts, thinking about a lot of things. Asking myself a lot of questions, justifying and reasoning what is right and what is wrong.

It was Saturday and I was having my evening tea with family... when suddenly out of the blue my aunt with a smile on her face told me “don’t take life too seriously” and left…

Made me feel good for some reason… It was a simple statement and something that I had heard before… but for some reason the impact it made @ that time made me feel better and relaxed.

A Theory Practical Enough- Part 2

What is loneliness? Is it a condition or a habit? Or is it just a state of mind?
Is it a bottomless pit inside you in which your soul keeps on falling and falling endlessly? Darker... Deeper!
As you keep on falling you come across the deepest and the darkest sides of your inner self…. So is it a facilitator that helps you realize what you are actually made of?
Does it help you to know yourself better, and have an opinion and view of your own on yourself and above that make you believe that it is the most important and the only view that matters @ the end of the day?
Does it also facilitate you to come across the inner joy within you and helps you to be content in whatever you have?
If yes why do we fear it?
The fact remains that you arrive in this world alone and as a mortal would depart alone… with the mortality on human race not only are our life’s temporary but so are all the relations, bonds and people confined to its boundaries…
We base our life’s on illusions turn a blind eye to reality… we say ignorance is bliss but we forget that we can only pretend to do so…
Until the day reality bites back hard and forces the bubble around you to blast, looks @ you eye to eye so close that you can feel it’s warm breath... And then you try to run away, only to find it everywhere you go.
Accept reality!! The sooner the better!! Or one day it will make you accept it!!
Take life as it comes!! Live every moment like you have never lived before!!

THE JAUNT

Oh it’s time
Get up
Get up
We got to go now

The sun is up
The night is gone
The time has come
Get up
Get up
We got to go now

Pack your bags
Check your supplies
The time has come
Get up
Get up
We got to go now

We got to go now
Got to go together
It is our time
It is our time together
My friend

The Road trip it begins
Light up my cigarette
Leaving time behind us
Leaving people behind us
We drive into new roads
Leaving behind old lanes

Through hills
Through mountains
Through landscapes
Never seen before
We navigate our way
Listing to highway star
We sing along
Forgetting everything
Forgiving every one
We cherish this bond

The sun it sets
As we light up the campfire
Lay around
Roll another joint
Just to take us higher
We play the guitar
We sing along
The songs we made
The songs we made on wind and fire
Crack open the bottle
Pour some whisky
We do whatever we desire

Life is a celebration
Every moment we cease
This time will last forever
Forever in our memories
So get up
Time to go now!

BLACK ROSE

Into the Garden of Eden
Moon light falls
Mist all around
In darkness she thrives
Me love
Black rose

A radiant glow
An aura surrounds her
The mystic wind blow
Spreads her scent
Diabolically sweet
Me love
Black rose

Her eyes
A gateway
To her soul
As deep as the black hole
A vortex
That sucks me in
Pacifies my demons
Freedom from all sins
Me love
Black rose

The baying hounds
Honor her coming
The howling sound
The darkness around
As black as the night sky
Her hair as moor
Her curse
Her world
She rules
Me love
Black rose

The darkness in me
The darkness in her
Collide and become one
The night gets colder
The night gets darker
On this confluence of two dark souls
Thoughts get clearer
Visions un-blur
A new world of our own
Me love
Black rose

A tale heard before!!

The Brain
A Piece of flesh
A broken thought
A gasp of breath
Distorted vision

Sanity
Insanity
True
Lies
Unknown
Undefined

A wall
Bricks of notion
Build around
Soul confined

Sun
Moon
No light
Gets Inside
Soul confined

Eventually
The wall breaks
Exposed to light
For the first time

Eyes closed
Afraid of the light
Living in darkness
Under the light

Light tears through
Soft skin
An eye opener
The optic nerve
Exposed to light

Reality check
Before you realize
The sun it sets
The end
Good bye!!

D DAY!!

Today 4Th of November 2008, marks the 44Th US Presidential elections. Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain have the final show down as the epic battle to become the next American president comes closer to its climax.
The US presidential elections have always been one of the most important political events not only for the Americans but also for the rest of the world.
I am not sure how much difference will each be able to make once elected, as i believe that the fate of the world has already been decided.
The cards are on the table,
The cards to be drawn are decided and known.
Only a matter of time and we will realise
who will draw the cards of doom!!

Enough!!!

ENOUGH!!! YES ENOUGH!!! 1204 miles away from my homeland and the city I belong to, my thoughts are getting filled with anger and concern for what is happening back home.

Right from the series of bomb blasts in Bangalore, Gujarat, Delhi, and now in Assam to Raj Thackeray’s so called “MOVEMENT” with his party MNS, and not to forget all the after effects including riots, shootouts and killing of innocent people. The common man is once again being sucked into the vortex of dirty, colored and power hungry politics.

The elections are close and every political party wants to prove a point / make a statement. They will do what ever it takes to bring each other down.

As a common man I think and think over and over again, I try to find an answer and know what is going on? How can this be stopped?

Every time I talk to some one about this trying to seek and answer I get the same reply “kya kar sakte hai” (what can we do).

No matter how much you talk about all this no matter how many movies, songs, articles and speeches are done to create awareness the mind set does not change.

I believe that at this stage if any one can make a difference it is us, yes us the common people the youth. We need to get involved, have to take a step ahead and make a firm stand.

I don’t blame politics completely for what has happened, but I also feel that the common man has failed in a lot of ways.

As Indians we learn to adjust to everything and take everything for granted. The shackles need to be broken; the mindset needs to be changed!!!

I know sitting here talking/writing about all this may be rather easy, and to be frank I don’t know if I have ever personally contributed or done something to make a difference. But I have promised myself that all this will never be forgotten by me, and one day no matter how but I will do what ever in my power to contribute to the change!!

I make this promise to myself today!!

“I dedicate this article to all the innocent life’s lost, may your souls rest in peace!! But your loss will not be forgotten as if it can lay a foundation for the change to come in my heart I am sure it did the same with many others too”

Moser Baer- Killing Piracy Softly!!

I am a big movie freak, and above that a huge Bollywood buff (I know I sound biased) more so now as it gives me an access and connects me to my homeland and culture.

Every time I make a trip back home there is a big list of Bollywood movie DVD’S that I have to buy for myself, family and friends back here in Dubai.

To be frank I have always felt that the quality of these DVD’s is not that great and above that they are highly over priced. That is why there has been a huge market for pirated CD’s and DVD’S in the country.

But then I came across Moser Baer, which has a good list of old and new Bollywood flicks to its credit. The quality again I feel is not as great but the interesting part is the pricing.

You can buy a Moser Baer VCD any where in between 30-40 bucks and DVD any where between 50-60 bucks.

I appreciate that finally some one has identified that providing decent quality at a reasonable price will definitely get more people to buy original instead of opting for poor quality pirated stuff.

Good job guys, I am sure that the piracy market has been hit hard by this step you have taken and for sure it is killing the long existed problem of piracy softly.

Cheers!!
